The Coolshade Reflector.
The Coolshade is an air-tight, fully sealed clear glass tube with a lamp mounting bracket in its centre. It’s perfect for removing the excess heat generated by HID grow lights without leaking unpleasant odours; as far as we know it’s the only fully sealed system on the market (other manufacturers claims that theirs are but in our experience they are definitely not).
Air is usually pulled (but can be pushed) over the lamp by adding an extractor fan to one side of the tube, the hot vented air is then expelled away from the grow room and plants. They’re very effective, somewhere in the region of 70-80% of heat is removed, and are therefore very popular with indoor gardeners who have limited space to work with.
The Coolshade has been specifically designed to address the problems associated with temperature build up and thermal hotspots in indoor grow rooms. It is not uncommon to find lighting systems of 5Kw or more in grow rooms as growers have become more aware of the relationship between light intensity, crop cycle time and yield.
Air cooled reflectors are designed to remove the heat by actively ducting the heat away before it is allowed to enter the growing area allowing you to put the reflector closer to the plants. Simply connects to 150mm extractor fan. The Cool Shade is mainly used for 250, 400 and 600 watt lights
